It has been a long, slow start to the school year. Although we had the classroom nearly ready to go, we needed our awesome class to come together, do some really great team building activities, and find out what we really needed to make our classroom the best fit for us. It's working! We've had a lot of new additions to our room already, so every inch of space is being used! Check it out and feel free to leave our class some feed back! They really are working hard everyday to make sure that our classroom is comfortable, functional, and a space they can be proud of!
The theme for our classroom hall decorations this year is going to be instagram. We decided to use #backtoschool to show off all of the students and staff working together to make the 5th-6th grade learning support classroom truly successful! Next up, something about Halloween, Fall, Thanksgiving, etc. You'll have to check back and see. But in the meantime, here's a look inside our classroom.
Our school colors are blue and gold, so it only made sense to bring those colors into our classroom. Gray, navy, gold, white and black colors pull everything together. And, almost everything has been personalized specifically for students' unique needs. Check out how it looks when everything is actually in use!
We don't have assigned seating in our classroom. Students are able to pull up whatever they're needing for that period. But, we did spend a lot of time at the beginning of the year discussing our expectations about behaviors while sitting. Students have been wonderful with our options. They love having choices and they are being very respectful of all of our options.
So, this basically completes the tour of our classroom! We hope you like it! For us, it is the perfect environment for Reading, Math and Writing instruction. But, the tour would not be complete without checking out Sugar, our class pet, whose pet therapy has helped many of students de-stress. We love her!
